Suckerfish

Director: José Mejia Lemus
Producer: Mary Garcia-Lemus

Debuting on 5 March 2007 at the San Luis Obispo Independant Film Festival, Suckerfish opened to a capacity crowd. Many who had wanted to see the documentary were turned away, as a result a second screening was scheduled on Sunday March 11, 2007.

The film is drawn from interviews conducted by Director José Mejia Lemus with homeless men and woman throughout California, and highlights their struggles to survive life on the streets amid prejudice from the community, police harrassment, and local governments attempt to reduce the numbers of homeless through adoption of laws and ordinances that make it increasingly difficult for the homeless to find a way out of life on the streets.
